Online searches for Skrillex arrested have surged after videos circulated on social media showing the Grammy-winning DJ being handcuffed by police in Los Angeles. The footage quickly went viral, leading many fans to believe that the electronic music icon had been taken into custody.
However, the full story behind the incident is different from what the viral headlines suggest. While Skrillex was briefly detained by police, the artist was not formally arrested, and the situation was resolved shortly afterward.
The incident took place in Hollywood, Los Angeles, when police officers stopped a vehicle driven by Skrillex, whose real name is Sonny John Moore.
According to reports, officers approached the vehicle after noticing loud music being played from the car. During the interaction, Skrillex reportedly did not have identification with him at the time of the stop.
As part of the standard procedure while verifying his identity, officers briefly placed the musician in handcuffs and seated him in a patrol car. After confirming the situation and issuing a citation, police released him at the scene.
This temporary detention led to confusion online, with many viewers assuming the DJ had been arrested.
The misunderstanding began when a bystander recorded the encounter and posted the video online. The clip showed the famous DJ standing next to his Tesla while officers placed him in handcuffs.
Because the short video lacked context, viewers quickly assumed the worst. Within hours, the footage spread across social media platforms and entertainment blogs, triggering headlines claiming Skrillex arrested.
In reality, the artist was detained briefly during the investigation and released shortly afterward.
After the video went viral, Skrillex addressed the situation publicly and clarified that he had not been arrested.
The DJ explained that the stop happened because of loud music coming from his vehicle. He also mentioned that the lack of identification contributed to the brief detention.
Skrillex even joked about the situation online, saying the officers essentially stopped him for “playing music too loud.”
