Latosha Mercado is a TikTok creator known for her bold opinions and lifestyle content. Recently, she went viral for the wrong reasons – after posting a controversial video that many people felt was mocking low-income families and food-stamp (SNAP) recipients.

The clip quickly spread across social media, leading to heavy criticism and rumors that she may have lost her job because of it.

What Happened in the Viral Video?

In late October 2025, Latosha Mercado uploaded a TikTok video where she complained about people using SNAP benefits.

She said she was “tired of hearing people complain” about losing food stamps and claimed she could “do better with less money” because she works two jobs.

Many viewers saw her comments as insensitive and accused her of mocking poor people instead of understanding their struggles.

As the backlash grew, Mercado turned off her comment section and tried to explain her side in follow-up videos – but the damage was already done.

Was Latosha Mercado Fired?

The big question people are asking is: Was TikToker Latosha Mercado fired after mocking the poor?

The answer is no – there is no official confirmation that she was fired.

Reports from multiple online sources show that while her video caused outrage, no employer or company has announced her termination.

However, the controversy may have affected her reputation and possibly her brand partnerships or sponsorships.

So far, Mercado has not made any public statement about losing a job or partnerships after the viral video.

Public Reaction on Social Media

Social media users were quick to react – and opinions were split.

Many people condemned her comments, saying she lacked compassion for those struggling to afford food.

Others defended her right to share her opinion but agreed that her tone was harsh.

The hashtags #LatoshaMercado and #MockingThePoor trended on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), as thousands of users discussed whether she crossed a line.

Did the Backlash Affect Her Career?

While she wasn’t officially fired, the online backlash could have real consequences:

Brands may hesitate to collaborate with her.

Her follower count and engagement could drop.

Her public image might take time to recover.

In today’s digital world, online reputation can be just as valuable as a full-time job — and controversies like this often hurt influencer careers even without a formal firing.

The Truth So Far

As of now, there is no verified proof that Latosha Mercado was fired after her TikTok video.

The viral clip has certainly damaged her reputation, but no company or employer has made an official statement confirming any disciplinary action.

The situation serves as a reminder that words on social media can have serious consequences, especially when they touch on sensitive topics like poverty or government assistance.

Conclusion

So, was TikToker Latosha Mercado fired after mocking the poor?

No official confirmation – she has not been fired.

But the backlash was real, and it could still affect her social media career moving forward.

The story of Latosha Mercado is another example of how fast public opinion can turn online – and why influencers must think before posting controversial content.
