Recently, a TikTok video from Sansum Clinic’s Pesetas Urgent Care in Santa Barbara went viral for all the wrong reasons. The video showed staff members making jokes about patients and even mocking bodily fluids left behind in exam rooms.
Captions on the video included things like Guess the substance and Make sure you leave your healthcare workers sweet gifts like these. Many viewers found the behavior disrespectful and unprofessional, leading to widespread criticism online.
Sutter Health, which runs Sansum Clinic, acted quickly. Within 24 hours, the employees involved were placed on leave.
By the next day, they were officially fired for their actions.
A clinic spokesperson said the behavior was completely inappropriate and insensitive and stressed that patient dignity is a top priority.
The clinic also confirmed that the TikTok was originally posted by someone who had already left the organization months earlier.
Even though the original TikTok was deleted, screenshots and reuploads spread quickly across Reddit, Facebook, and other platforms. Many people expressed anger and disappointment, demanding accountability from the clinic.
The backlash shows how fast unprofessional behavior can damage trust in healthcare providers.
