A video has recently gone viral on social media showing a man named Theodore Barrett, who is introduced as a White House Deputy Press Secretary. In the video, he holds a press conference just minutes after his wife’s tragic death, speaking in an unusually calm and emotionless way. This left many people wondering whether the Theodore Barrett is real or fake?
Let’s clear up the confusion.
The Video is Not Real – It is Satire
The video comes from The Onion, a famous American website known for making funny and fake news stories. The clip was first posted back in 2008 and was meant to be a joke or a satire, not something to be taken seriously.
In the video, Theodore Barrett pretends to ignore his wife’s death to get back to political work, which was meant to make fun of how politicians sometimes act cold or robotic during serious events.
No, Theodore Barrett is not a real person.
There is no record of anyone named Theodore Barrett working as a press secretary or holding any official role in the White House. He is just a made-up character created for comedy.
The video looks very real — the background, the way the press conference is set up, and the serious tone all make it seem believable. Many people who haven’t seen the original video or don’t know about The Onion might think it’s real.
But if you watch closely, you will notice that the story is too strange and over-the-top to be true, that’s because it was never meant to be.
Fake, The character and video are fictional. The video is a joke from a comedy site, not a real government event.
